A Feather In Our Nest...

The Board of Directors and Staff of the Adult Center for Enrichment believe intensely in the work that we do. We value highly each and every participant and family member who enters our programs…for life is so precious and significant from the moment of birth through the continuum of aging.

Therefore, when words of support, appreciation and recognition come, we are humbled that others also perceive our work as valuable. Let us share some of these awards and caregiver thoughts with you:

Some of Our Awards:

• Marcella Davis Kelly Award - in 1993, 1998, 2000 and again in 2002, the Adult Center for Enrichment received this prestigious award from the North Carolina Adult Day Services Association for excellence in programming. The Adult Center for Enrichment is the only program to have received this award Four times since its inception in 1992.
  
  
• Information Source for Adult Day Centers National Awards - in 1999, recipient of the Fundraising & Marketing Award for Art Calendar Project and Caregiver Support Award for Remembrance of Things Past. In 2000, recipient of the Therapeutic Award for Feelings Just Are: Visits with Morrie.
  
  
• Fundraising Award - in 2003, recipient of the Fundraising Award for our Aged to Perfection Antique Auction.
   
• Governor’s Award -, Volunteer Center of Greensboro, Group Award/Art - with Altrusa International of Greensboro, NC for the Art Calendar Project in 1999.

I don’t think Daddy ever knew just where he went each day or why, but the program gave structure to his day and a pattern to his weeks. It seemed to remind him of his work schedule and to give him a sense of purpose. It gave my mother an opportunity to have time for herself with the knowledge he was receiving excellent care.

My husband and I were delighted with the benefits to both of them, and I believe the Adult Center for Enrichment enabled us to care for Daddy at home until his hospitalization just prior to death.

The staff was so very warm and considerate to both my parents, and it really helped Mother to have staff with whom she could comfortably discuss the questions and concerns she had that were associated with the illness.
